Hello! As many of you graphic designers here have noticed, our signature of the week competition has been a little slow for the past few months. Well, we're here to tell you that SOTW is embarking on a new revival period! Recently, design team leader KingdomKey_Sora has been occupied IRL, and has handed over the reins of SOTW to Jade. Here are just a few things you should know about our SOTW and how it works to promote interest for our weekly contest.

S U B M I T T I N G

The size limit for sigs is 500x300 (with few exceptions depending on theme) and must be something made the week of the submission topic. This isn't Sig of the Last Week, or the Week Before. The point of this weekly contest is to both inspire and encourage graphics-making and to try to tackle new style...

From beautiful landscapes to the smallest insect, photography has captivated the eyes of millions upon millions through the generations since it was invented. The colors of light shine through a captured single moment, seizing what painted portraits couldn't do before. Yet despite the beautiful imagery, can we really call photography an art form?

In a recent TKK poll, 85.71% of participating members said it was art, 0% said it wasn't, while the remaining percentage went to an "other opinion" vote. "I definitely believe photography is a valid art form. No less so than drawing, printmaking, painting," user Tokugawa_Ronin says. "First, you need to know your equipment, techniques, etc. Also, you need to find your subject, location, get the lighting and such right... it can definitely be painstaking work."

Though it is undoubtedly true that photography must pay heed to the basics of aesthetics as any other art form, does that alo...

Something I really love is seeing original and well-done fan art. So often, artists will take something as it is and recreate it, not adding much, if anything, that's unique to their style. Some of my favorite examples of artists really making something their own are Pokemon fan art pieces. I've gathered some of my favorite works from deviantART to show some of the talent and creativity that can go into a piece of fan art.

Some of these have been in my dA favorites for years, and some are new additions. All are unique and interesting works that I thought were worth sharing. There are plenty more wonderful Pokemon artworks on dA, but I've limited myself to ten. Please visit the links to the original deviation pages in order to view the full pieces.

Please support these artists if you like their work and give them some favorites and comments! If your artwork is on this list and you do not wish to be featured here, please send me a deviantART n...

A few months ago, TKK's design team got together and started to discuss creating a resource pack for all those interested in graphics and digital art on our forums. Until recently, the word about it had been more or less up in the air, but we finally buckled down and started reviving the pack, filling it with clean, safe resources. Now we, the design team at TKK, present to you our very first Premiere Resource pack!

This resource pack is unique to TKK, as most of the resources were not only provided by TKK Design Team membe...

In the world of Art, artists are surrounded by many walls and obstacles. Financial obstacles, creative blocks, work overloads, the list goes on and on. One might say that artists truly cut and bleed for their art. But of these obstacles, one rises above them. A threat that has plagued every artist's mind and driven us into a corner of frustration and near insanity. This threat has many names, but somewhere along the way we've all dubbed it by a three letter acronym that in itself is both a threat and a salvation to artists... We call this CnC.

What is CnC? It simply stands for Critique and/or Comment (it's my own theory that we first called it "CaC" but, as that's equivalent to a Minnesotan's male private part, we opted to "CnC" instead). In the world of art, when one posts his or her work on a forum or public display, it's common courtesy to ask for CnC. Here are some hidden rules when asking for CnC that will help you either a...
