Me Talk Pretty One Day
02 May 2011 - 12:33 AM
A collection of essays written by the essayist, David Sedaris (who frequently appears on the podcast, "This American Life"). I had to read it for Creative Writing a month back, and pretty much loved the entire thing. The essays were built on self deprecation, but just enough so that people could relate and say "omg, that happened to me too!" The essays also commented on the aspect of the human condition through simple everyday tasks like walking, or riding a train. I'd recommend them as a possible baseline to look at for writing the college essay (which is what I'm totes gonna do).
By far, my favorites had to be "Me Talk Pretty One Day" and "You Can't Kill the Rooster".
Anybody read this or another of his books? -

While searching for music one day, I saw/heard someone recommend her, and decided to give her a try. ...And it was love at first sight. As a YouTube commentator has said, "she put the 'OK' in 'Folk music'". In the four songs I've listened to so far, her voice and the BGM start off slow and low, but gradually build up into a loud and somewhat faster melody that's pretty great. So far, her first and only CD is First Love, but Wikipedia said that she was working on one during this year too. 8D
And it's called Virtue according to her website (listed below). :B
