I love how they typed the words out exactly how she said them. :awesome:

Anyway, does it annoy you when people text or talk on their phones during a movie? What do you all think about it? Discuss.

Holy SHIT, that sounded EXACTLY like my sister. Voice and the way she talked/emphasized words and everything. Like, EXACTLY like her. O___O

Also, no, I'm not at all bothered by people texting in a theater as long as their phone is on vibrate (a quiet vibrate, not a loud, obnoxious vibrate) or silent. Talking on the phone, obviously, is a problem and really disruptive. But unless someone's waving their bright phone screen around all over the place and being distracting/disruptive, I couldn't care less if people text during a movie.

^Basically exactly that. (minus the part about my sister. I don't have one.)

I don't really care if people text as long as their brightness is down and it's on silent.

EDIT- also I thoroughly enjoyed the subtitles. XD

If people could only see how grammatically incorrect they talk, I'd be a happy camper.

Well, texting to tell a person something really quick doesn't bother me, but what doesn't make sense to me is when people go in a movie theatre and text for nearly the entire movie. Why would you pay money to sit and look at a screen and not even do that?
As for me, I don't make a habit of texting during a movie, I usually only do it when I'm sitting at the very top row in the back, where no one really can see the light. If I was trying to watch a movie, there'd be nothing more bothersome than seeing a constant bright light in my peripheral view, so I keep that in mind for the sake of being respectful to others around me.

I agree the subtitles are funny, though I know I personally don't speak nearly as well as I type and I'm sure if someone made a video with subtitles like this of me talking, especially if I was upset, I'd look like an idiot too.

I totally agree with this, but that's their problem, not mine. It doesn't make sense to me to text through an entire movie (Tristan always did this and I found it soo annoying just because I was with him), but it doesn't actually bother me that random people waste their money just to text through a whole movie. I don't find it rude that they have the phone out in the first place.

i find it annoying, but thank goodness most people here are really considerate and don't do it much. They'd rather yell at the screen sometimes (usually at midnight premiers).

I was at a movie the other day and some guy talked on his phone in the theater. I don't care if you text, just don't talk on the phone it's rude. I try not to text as well, it blatantly says on the screen before every movie not to.

That depends. if they talk quietly i'm fine. But if they talk normally or loud (they sound the same in a quiet theatre) I wanna find ways to make em miserable. if they're in front of me I'll just take a boot to the back of their chair.

I'm with Toasty that I don't like talking or texting. In a dark ass movie theatre, I don't want to see a bright glare in my peripheral vision when I payed to go watch a freaking movie in public. If you can make it so dim that I can't see it then I guess I don't really care, but that usually isn't the case. I'm sure that whatever your texting isn't so incredibly important that it can't wait two hours. And if it is then you should probably leave to be considerate to everyone else :\

Unrelated movie story, I remember on Christmas Day (maybe the day after, not too sure) I took me, Cameron, and Nina to go watch Sherlock Holmes when it was out and I payed for the tickets as my treat. But they had had a fight right before the movie so because they were pissed at each other they didn't talk to each other and ignored the movie. Cameron actually fell asleep. I was pretty pissed that I basically blew my money. But the next day he was aware enough to apologize.

Still pissed though T_T

The Alamo Drafthouse is exceptional.

I don't mind texting, but talking is another issue. A quick text is alright, but repeatedly flashing the screen during the movie just...isn't wanted.

I had to pause it at "Magnited states of America" because her voice was making me so nauseous. Rested for about 3 minutes, then finished listening to it. Goddamn, she is fucking annoying.

It is really simple: When you go to see a movie you should be ready to either leave your phone in your car or turn it off. It doesn't matter how disruptive one person may find texting as opposed to another one. What matters is theater policy, which makes itself explicitly clear at the beginning of each and every movie. What one person may be fine with another may be annoyed by. If you are unable to detach yourself from your overpriced piece of technology for two, maybe three, hours then do not bother going. There are plenty of other people who paid the same amount of money you did to see the movie but are also able to follow policy and not distract others from their experience.

Leigh has a bad habit of leaving her cellphone on and/or texting when we go to see a movie and it irritates the piss out of me.

I would say, leave the cellphone on, in the event of an emergency, but don't text or talk needlessly on it.

It's too bad that people have a tendency to not use common sense.

I don't even get service in most movie theaters, so I can't text during movies.
I'm one of those people who aren't annoyed by it, but, like everyone else said, it's annoying/rude/inconsiderate to talk on your phone in the theater. If that call is so important that you have to answer it, take it outside.
I don't think a person should be completely kicked out of a theater for texting one time. I understand policy is policy, but you can warn a person first. Obviously, if they keep texting, then they deserve to be thrown out.
You know what else is annoying and should warrant removal from a theater?
When a parent has a small child at a showing that is not appropriate for a child (kind of like a midnight showing of Pirates of the Caribbean) and the child cries non-stop.
I understand kids get restless or whatever, but if your child starts crying in the middle of a movie and you can't get them quiet within 30 seconds, you take them OUTSIDE of the theater and settle them down. Don't just leave them to cry, it's so rude and inconsiderate of the other movie goers. (This happened to me and I was PISSED. I wanted to find these irresponsible parents and just punch them in the face).

I hateeeee when I see a bright light coming from the bottom of the theater, it catches my attention. And if you're gonna take a phone call, heeecckkk no. They better get out of the theater. -_- I get so annoyed, even if I just go to a dollar theater. Lol, usually at the regular theaters people end up yelling shut up, or turn off the phone. But at dollar movies, it usually only bothers a few, so I'm the one who initiates telling the person to get off their phone. :) I mean, you're at a movie, maybe you should try watching it?
