Let this thread be up for all information coming in about the Wii U

So far the official specs haven't been released, but what has been seen/released is:

Quote

The presentation focused on the Wii U controller which is more like a Wii Tablet that also has controller functionality. It features a 6.2 inch HD screen. The first feature they showed off was the ability to continue the game from the big screen onto the small screen. No need for the TV here. The pad’s screen can also be used as a second screen to help the game; picture maps, inventory, designed plays on the small screen while graphics fill up your TV screen. It is also touch enabled and comes with a stylus.

There are two analog controls, a d-pad, ABXY buttons, and 4 triggers or bumpers in L/R and ZL/ZR options. Its got gyroscopic controllers, accelerometer, a camera, a mic, two speakers for stereo and a sensor strip, plus power and home buttons. The controller is also rechargeable.

New specs just release state that memory is internal flash, expanded by SD cards (should have use a harddrive) but can be expanded by External USB drives (There are 4 USB slots and hopefully these will not require special formatting). The system is drive by an IBM mult-core processor unspecified at this time. Along with your full 1080p you have Six-channel audio output. What is the disc format you ask? Who knows for sure, it’s listed as a proprietary high-density optical disc; same dimensions as Wii discs.

Haiku's can be fun.
But sometimes they don't make sense.
Refrigerator.

I was like a tween girl at a Bieber concert while watching the live broadcast of their presentation. A new Smash Bros. for the Wii-U? F yeah!

I heard something about the new Smash Bros on WiiU being able to connect with the game for 3DS as well.

That's cool n' all. But that shit sounds incredibly expensive and pointless for what the price tag most likely is going to be. Nintendo doing something pointless? How very new....

Personally, I'm disappointed. That controller looked ridiculously large and bulky. =/

Most people who tested out the controller at E3 came back with positive impressions, stating that it is comfortable to hold and not too heavy. I'm sure there are a few negative remarks about it being made by someone, but as a whole I've seen more complaints about the PSP Vita than I have the Wii U controller. Which is odd because the Vita doesn't seem massively different design wise to me when compared to the PSP.

The bullshit part about the Wii U is it supposedly only supports one Wii U controller at the moment - any additional players will be forced to use regular Wiimotes. I will not purchase the Wii U if that is the case. Miyamoto said that it is not "set in stone," and there is still plenty of time between now and its release, but if it launches that way they can kiss my ass.

Well, if the thing can handle current gen to next gen graphics I wouldn't mind paying a decent amount for it, because I'm sure its going to have a lot of features that Microsoft and Sony don't. However, the most important thing for me will of course be the games. The Wii had some good games, but in reality it really wasn't enough for me to buy it. Mainly because I'm more "hardcore" if you want to use the word when it comes to the games that I play. Nintendo definately has the assets to blow M&S outta the fuckin' water, but they've embraced family gaming so much that I don't see it happening. So I'm probably going to just wait until M&S come out with their respective consoles in 2 to 3 years.

Only being able to use one WiiU controller is kinda... dumb. I mean looking at the demo video they had a game with 4 people using Wiimotes and one person with the new controller that was basically like a mario party game where the other 4 had to track down the one player inside a maze or something. If they enabled play for 4 new controllers and 4 Wiimotes, that'd be pretty awesome. 8 player in person without having to worry about splitting the screen into 8 segments? HELL YES.

If it doesn't come out multiple controller compatible immediately, it'll probably do so in the months following the release. I don't know, Nintendo is so ahead of the curve when it comes to stuff like this, that I would be actually pretty surprised if it doesn't happen at launch though.

The issue isn't so much Nintendo not wanting to add additional controller support as it is technological limitations. The Wii-U is supposedly more powerful than the PS3 and 360, though I'm willing to bet that it isn't too much more powerful. Anyways, the problem is bandwidth limitations from what I understand. Still, wait until the technology allows for it and don't rush out a half-assed product - which is exactly what a Wii-U that supports one controller would be. Ain't much of a party if everyone fights over the superior controllers.
