So, as I'm sure you've all noticed (there was an announcement, after all) I am no longer a moderator. Several of you are aware that I have meant to step down for some time now, and the rest of you probably figured out from my complete inactivity that I had already entered a sort of de facto retirement.

Firstly, sorry for being a crappy mod and basically disappearing for the past couple of months. I had a responsibility to fulfill, and I didn't. You guys deserve better, and now you can get it. Many congratulations to Ben and Kendra, who I know will do superbly.

Secondly, now that I am officially off the staff, I can finally make a thread and come out and TELL you guys a truth most of you have probably figured out by now. That is, I am officially retiring from The Kingdom Key. I may check in every so often to see how things are, and many of you I will still talk to through other modes of communication, but ultimately, I probably won't ever be as active again as I once was. Essentially, the way it's been for the past couple months is probably how it's going to be from hereon out.

The reason for this is pretty much the same reason many people fade out of TKK; my life is not the same as it was when I joined, and when I was active. Especially since really getting into my groove for college, I've become more and more involved with my life here, and my focus has shifted away from TKK. The whole process of my life right now has shifted such that if I hadn't already been a member of TKK, I probably wouldn't be a part of any online community. That's just sort of what my life has morphed into now.

While this change has taken me away from you guys, and I'm sad about that (because I love you guys) also a little bit happy in that I actually have you guys to thank for at least some part of this. No, not in a "u guys suck so im leavvin" kind of way; you guys have all played a huge part in shaping the kind of person I am today. When I joined, I was an ignorant, prideful 16-year-old dunce. It's been 4 and a half years, I'm 20, and I have to say, if it hadn't been for the time I've spent with you guys and the wisdom I've gained from you all, I'd still be a bumbling, uncoordinated, arrogant, and unsociable ass, and for that I thank you. It's been more than wonderful being here, and I absolutely mean that.

So yeah, I wanted to say goodbye now, since I've finally resolved my responsibilities (by passing them onto someone else 'cause I'm classy like that) and I haven't been completely forgotten yet. Seemed appropriate.

tl;dr: Fuck y'all, I'm out like shout

PS: If people are around, I will be in Tinychat tonight. Good times will be had. There may be some Mahgaret, there will probably be some dramatic readings of bad fanfic, and there will almost certainly be Scotch. (Black Label, kids. That's how you drink Whiskey.)

Well man, I'm sad to see you officially go, but like you said, you'll still likely pop in from time to time, and there's always good old Facebook.

Thanks for the memories, the laughs, and the awkward gender confusion moments. I'll miss ya!

Really sad to see you go... I'm glad you'll at least be checking up on things once in a while, and like Joel said, there's always Facebook. I'll definitely miss your holy-shit-Sophos-needs-to-turn-his-caps-lock-off posts, though.











Either way, I expect Kendra and everyone else to be posting on your theatre-related statuses on Facebook more than they have been already, so.

It's sad to see you go, but I wish you luck in everything you do.

I haven't been around here as long as most people have, but it's been awesome getting to know you through here.
Although I've only seen a few of your posts, they were always witty and hilarious, and I know that will be greatly missed by myself and everyone else on here. But life happens, and it's good to hear that things are going well for you at college. Do what you need to and enjoy life, and know that you'll always have your TKK friends to fall back on if ever need be.

Sadness ensues. Even though you've been here consistently longer, I feel like we both kind of had the same story here at TKK, joined around the same time, both were really terrible about being humans. But look at us now. It's really sad to see you go, but hey, life awaits, lots of luck with your endeavors, and don't think this will be the last you hear from me--Facebook, that old bitch.

What is this? I'm going to have to give you a warning because you're too awesome to officially retire from TKK.



All joking aside though, I'm sad to see you go but glad that you're having such a great time at college. Live in the moment, and all that stuff -insert generic goodbye here-. I will miss you and your Caps Lock of doom.

From here on out I am officially inviting myself to go wherever you are asking people to go, via status updates on Facebook. Not that I won't continue posting on your statuses, I am just making it clear that we're not finished. One day you will accept my self invite. One day...

Well, Ian. It's been a long road, man. A lots changed in the four and half years you've been around. It's funny how we all look back and see what we've become as people due to our being here. TKK may not be forever, but the memories sure as anything are. One day we all might come to outgrow this place and go on with life. And even though that day may very well come, the moments stay with each and every one of us. There's a certain sense of unity in this place that doesn't just fade with time. Sure, the spirit of The Kingdom Key isn't what it once was, but a faint glimmer of it is an embodiment of that spirit all the same. And though tarnished and sputtering as it is, can any of us say that this place never meant anything at some point? But y'know, maybe that's just how the story goes. Maybe once we've learned all that we can from this place, it's time to move on. Who knows for sure? The only thing I can say I believe in beyond a shadow of a doubt is that The Kingdom Key, in it's prime, was a place for people to grow and explore. All the phases we all went through, the discoveries, the evolution of beliefs, it takes a force pretty powerful to bring about something like that. In the end, who would've thought it'd be this tiny, tiny, insignificant community in our little corner of the internet? So for all that it's worth coming from me, Ian. Go on and grab life by the balls and do what makes you happy. Just don't ever forget what brought you to where you are.

I never really got to know you that well man, but back during the summer when I would frequent tinychat you always made me feel welcome as a newcomer. I think its safe to say that you held a large part (you among others, who extended the same friendly hand) in ensuring that I stayed on as a member here. Though my activity dwindled soon, TKK felt like more of a home for me for those first two or so months than my actual one, and I'd like to thank you for being a part of making me feel like one of the gang and not an outsider noob. I wish you well in what is to come in your life, and should you ever return I hope I'm here to see it.

Well, from what I've seen in some tinychats, I'm sad I did not get the chance to know you better.

Every good thing has an end, but I'm glad you chose to be involved in real life to "sacrifice" online time rather than the opposite.
