Ooh... love the coloring of the first- it has the best contrast/depth as well, I think. My biggest problem is that it seems a little unfocused, to me... though I can't really pinpoint why that is, so I'm no help.

I LOVE the colouring and sharpness of the first. Though I agree with Becky on it being unfocused. I think it's more an issue with your subject. Personally I find its clothing and arm position really distracting, and since you've cropped off his eyes it's kind of hard to find a solid focal point if that makes sense. Now I'm not discouraging eye cropping at all... I do it too often, but it works better with tighter poses with the arms on subjects. Eyes draw you in. So without eyes, how do we make something stand out? The answer is more simple than complex.
For example:
Do you kind of see how their poses aren't anything too wild? Wild arm and clothing movements without eye contact distract from the subject; one of the first lessons I learned in portrait photography.
