Zombie Apocalypse Plans
#1 Posted 04 September 2010 - 01:06 AM
What would you do? Where would you go? What weapon(s) would you have? Try to keep it realistic!

Well, if the zombie apocalypse were real, I wouldn't shout "oh would you look at that zombies good thing I'm prepared for this", no... I'd probably shit my pants and cry until they'd eventually get in and eat me.
Well okay, maybe I'd make some kind of effort to stay alive. I guess I'd try to be as resourceful as possible, using anything (but matches or any other object that can start a fire) to fight off a zombie, given the chance I run into one. Since I'm not all that physically strong, I'd probably be a better aide or medic, tending to those who get wounded/bitten/whatever. I'd probably also be more useful for finding hiding places instead of fighting.
Though if I really had to have a weapon of some sort, I'll reference L4D2 here and say I'd use a frying pan.

Thanks, Jade. c:

First things I'd get my hands on: Gloves, thick ones. Thick leather jacket and a thin plastic poncho w/ hood to go over it. Duct tape. Goggles or full face mask, that i can see clearly through and covers my entire face. Thick jeans and boots. Containers for food/water and a way to make fire.
Screw most firearms. I'd rely more on melee weapons, because no common individual is gonna be headshotting a zombie (or zombies) while fearing for their life. Not consistently, therefore, waste of ammunition. I'd keep a metal baseball bat, a crowbar, hell, a fairly long length of pipe as my main defense, with *maybe* a shotgun as backup.
I listed the items above because in using a melee weapon (preferably blunt, bladed weapons...asking for problems, but if you're desperate, you're desperate), you're in the perfect spot to be in the "splash zone." And no, I don't mean the one from seaworld or an aquarium. It's best to assume the virus/agent/whatever is spread through bodily fluids (when isn't it?) and protect yourself from blood splashed on you as you bash the undead's head in, as well as from biting/scratching wounds you'd get otherwise. Mark the end of the weapon you're using as a grip with lots of duct tape so you never accidentally grab the "business end" with an uncovered hand and end up getting infected by leftover blood and a tiny, barely visible scratch on your palm.
Those of you who wanna hole up somewhere: I'll laugh when I run by to scavenge your horded items. If there's any left by the time you starve. It'd be better to stay *very* mobile. Stay in the open. You'll see whatever's coming to nom on your head and you'll be better able to run or fight. Stay light, with essentials in a pack, and your weapon in your hands.
Bare essentials of my rant.

I lol'd.

1.) I would find a vehicle, or use my own, and travel to the destination. The destination is a castle set in Kentucky that was built for a man's wife who ended up leaving him. It has a outer wall with a gate, which leads in to the Keep. It would need some remodeling for the windows though since they're modern and no gothic.
2.) I would make sure to grab as many nonperishable items and food as I could as well as ransacking a few stores on the way. I would also make sure to purchase farming equipment and tools.
3.) I would then begin to farm in the space between the outer wall and keep. I plan to travel with a group to help maintain the walls as well as serve as lookouts, plus a little help with the farming never hurt.
4.) As for weapons, I would more than likely use a gun to begin with but would try to get a fletcher and bower to make bows and arrows and use those.

That's what I THINK I'd do, of course everyone knows that just because you THINK you'd do a certain thing doesn't necessarily mean you will when actually presented with the situation. I might not have the guts to kill myself and will do everything I can possibly do, there's really just no knowing what one would do when given certain situations that they've never had to face before.

I'd likely die within a few hours.
And then I would come for YOU.

Step 1. Gather all family, the girl that I like, and her family to my house, and have them stay in my room (My room has a bathroom, and not alot of furniture that takes up space. My parent's have a master-bedroom, but it's loaded with furniture, and 2 walls are made of glass, so it'd be easy to break into.)
Step 2. We take the furniture and all blankets and air mattresses from our living-room and closets and throw them into my room. The entire ground will mostly be a mattress to sleep on, with blankets all over the place. All the furniture that we brought into my room would be used to keeping my door closed, incase zombies were to break into our house, and to cover my giant window. We have metal-curtain things on the outside to put over all of our windows, but I don't know how long it'd take for a zombie to figure out how to move them aside.
Step 3. We'd also take the fridgerator from the kitchen, the mini-fridge from the garage, all MRE's from our cabinets, and a microwave, and gather them into a corner of my room. In the fridge, we would stuff the entire thing up with as much pizza as possible, and in it's freezer part, we'd stuff it wtih a ton of water (Just to have a back-up supply of water, incase the tap water got infected). Mini-Fridge would contain other foods, and maybe some drinks.
Step 4. In the event of our power being knocked out, luckily it doesn't get cold in the winter in Guam. Only thing we'd need is lighting, so I'd bring all of my mom's scented candles and stuff them into my closet for storage. Tap water gets contaminated or un-filtered, we'd use those back-up water bottles that I stuffed in the freezer. Food shortage? Well that's the only thing we'd get screwed over, so before stuffing ourselves into my zombie camp, I'd have to ask for the girl's family to try to bring over all of her food, even if it expires soon.
Step 5. Entertainment, or else known as keeping yourself sane while being locked into a room for months. I have a giant TV, so until the power gets knocked out, we could watch movies that I have, or play video games for awhile. I'd store up batteries somewhere in my room, that way we could then use a portable DVD player, or play old-school video games such as the GBA/GBC/GB or Sega GameGear. After having no more power for our electronics, I have a mini-library on a shelf. Books should last for months, if not a year, only if you don't get bored of reading easily. Then I have a guitar, and fake books to just play songs. After we've done all of that, we'd probably go insane from boredom.
Step 6. Sex? Not likely. Being locked up in a room with at least 10 other people would make sex hard to enjoy, without people staring or telling you to knock it off. Could have sex in the closet or my bathroom, but everybody'd be able to hear you.
Step 7. Killing Zombies? Not at all. My family doesn't have guns, my friend's family probably doesn't have guns, nobody has explosives, and surely nobody owns a tank. That's why I've gone with the survival camp thing when zombies break out, rather than getting killed trying to kill zombies.

Sure, the zombies will have a tough time getting in....But it'll be impossible for you to get out once they surround your home. Once the food runs out, once the water's gone and the tap's infected, you'll have to resort to cannibalism. Or good ol' fashion suicide. Have one brave soul mercy-kill the rest, and wait for starvation or zombies to come and take him/her away.
Again, I'd have to stress being mobile. Less fortified, but easier to say "F.E.A.R." IE: Fuck Everything, and RUN.

I lol'd.

Food is our only problem, but luckily I live on Guam, so before the zombie outbreak were to get to Guam, I could at least go grocery shopping, buying 3 times as much as I'd usually buy though.

I live in a small town called Akureyri in Iceland. The population there is just 300.000 and only 18.000 live in Akureyri so there wont be that many here and hopefully I'll be able to survive for a while.

The only problem is that a lot of people will be buying a ton of stuff in that scenario meaning that there might not be that much foodstuff left.
