If at least three people want to do a theme that usually means we'll get at least three entries which would make SOTW more fun.
Hi hi!
So this week we got no suggestions, but freestyles are lame so I just went through the other ideas and randomly picked one.
This week's theme will be Apocalypse. Make a sig with your interpretation of the end of the world.
and yes, Zombies are allowed.
Poop. No suggestions again.
I did have an idea though, and this could be potentially fun. I'll go ahead and make the topic for it but if no one is up for it then we can do a theme change (I'd like to know sooner or later though so we can keep things on track!)
This weeks theme (unless ruled out) is Sig Shop remix. Go into the Graphics Shoppe and select an old request to remix with your own spin. Design team members may choose their own threads if you think you can put a refreshing mix on it.

This means suggest some themes or SOTW dies
So... Are there any themes you guys want to do? Or are there even any themes already suggested you all would like to be part of?
-----------
Alright guys it's almost that time again! Just a reminder:
We DO want you to suggest ideas! You CAN suggest ideas that have already been suggested. You CAN suggest a theme that's already been done.
For those that aren't aware, all next SOTW themes WILL be based on what is discussed here. If nothing is discussed I'll either pick something at random or create a new theme from my crazy imagination! Whatever theme is generally wanted in this topic WILL be the next SOTW theme. So suggest away. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE suggest away!!!
If you want to do a theme over again, or do a theme already suggested NEXT. Post it here so I know which theme to set up next week.
If no one suggests anything I will pick one and random and I don't want to hear "I don't like this theme" or "Not feeling it."

I don't mind going generic or doing a freestyle, but if that's the case I still don't want to hear "I don't like [theme]" or something along the lines of that which HAS happened in the past with both a generic theme and freestyle.
This topic is here for you all to voice your opinions and/or come to an agreement on a theme. If you don't like the themes I pick because there were no suggestions... Sorry. I honestly don't know what I can do about that. I mean even if you don't like the themes I made I've even given you guys a short grace period to suggest something else.
We COULD make SOTW into a non-weekly thing and just do it whenever people feel like suggesting themes. I'd love to keep it a weekly thing but if we go by every fortnight to get enough submissions I don't know what else to do. Believe me I am truly open to any suggestion you have and I want to do what you guys want to do. I don't like picking themes because that in itself says that SOTW is lacking in activity, which in a way reflects on how I run this competition.
I dunno... Do you all want me to just pick generic themes from now on? I can't promise much but I can promise that SOTW will be whatever you guys want it to be. If you wanna make it Tag of the Fortnight or Tag of the Whenever or Tag of the Whatever Whenever I can make it happen. I'll make sure you guys are happy with SOTW but I can't read your minds.

However, having run a large SOTW competition at a much larger site, I can tell you you're not going to have everyone voicing their opinion every week and all coming to an agreement every week. That's a totally unrealistic expectation. As the person running SOTW, yes, you ARE going to have to make decisions and no everyone is NOT going to come to an agreement for you every week and make your job super easy. There needs to be a good balance, where you're not ignoring everyone's opinions or demanding that everyone make a decision together.
The reason generic themes and freestyle themes are generally better is because you're going to have people saying they're not interested in the theme less often. Generic themes are a lot more inclusive. More unique themes should be more of a rare occurrence. If you're going to do a more unique theme, that's generally the kind of thing that people should come to an agreement about beforehand, because with something more unique, you're going to have people who might not be interested. A unique theme (this week's, for example) is something that needs to be discussed beforehand so that you know there will be enough participation.
Here are a few generic, easy themes.
Anime/manga
Black and white
Movies (even a specific movie, perhaps a recent one with a lot of hype)
Games (same as above)
TV show (same as above)
Smudge
Set stock (I hate these usually, but if the stock picks are good they're usually an okay safe choice)
Female stock
Male stock
Real people
Cartoon
Abstract
And of course, freestyle
And then there are themes that fall somewhere between generic/safe and unique/out there. Those are usually pretty safe too. Challenge themes or unique themes should be spread pretty far and few between. But if activity is lacking, something generic is usually a much safer bet.

Thank you. I've never run an SOTW before this one so something like this is helpful to me. I really do want to run this fair for everyone. If you see or notice anything I'm not doing quite right for SOTW don't be afraid to say so or call me out. If it's said in a reasonable manner, I can reciprocate.
that said how does Cartoon or Cartoon: Disney sound for the next theme?

Anything with Disney's trademark on it that's cartooned/animated. So I guess KH and Miyazaki films would fall under this category as well.
I'm thinking about doing the next theme as a "Live Action Adaption"
Basically movies like Scott Pilgrim, Kick Ass, Spiderman, et cetera. Is there a better way of phrasing this theme? XD

This weeks' theme is another limitation theme! This time your limitations are with your adjustment layers. Gradient Maps only! Other than that, everything else is freestyle.
I may ask for your PSD so don't cheat!
Update:
Due to lack of interest in last week's theme SOTW 48 has been changed to a FREESTYLE. If you made a "wizard" tag (anything remotely magical would've worked) or started on something, you can still submit that as your entry for SOTW 48. Any sigs made after the original creation date of the SOTW 48 entry topic will be allowed as fair game (Sunday November 14th 2010).
If you have any objections or suggestions please reply to this topic.
