Who's going to order or has already pre-ordered the Japanese version of Birth By Sleep? I'm definitely getting it, even though I can't read Japanese. :icame: But anyways, it's gonna be worth it! I might wait 'till they come out with an english guide so I can actually understand it, but I wanna play as Ventus soooooooooo bad!

Do you two have modded PSPs then, or are you planning on getting them modded?

I'm going to wait for the English release. I know a couple people are importing it, and that would be cool, and I wouldn't be COMPLETELY lost, given my tiny knowledge of Japanese, but... I'd rather play it all in English and understand it completely.

By the way, if you're playing in Japanese, it'd be good to at least get a little familiar with katakana. This is the alphabet Japanese uses when they take foreign words and put it into their own language.
If this doesn't make sense, then here's an example. Japanese has its own word for "eat," it's "taberu." Not similar at all, but that's also written with hiragana (the normal alphabet) and kanji (complex symbols that represent multiple characters in the alphabet).
However, the phrase "ice cream" is written in katakana, and looks like "aisu kuriimu." If you can read katakana and pronounce it, you should know what the word is in English. (Just like Kingdom Hearts - Kingudamu Haatsu)

I'm not telling you to memorize another language, but most items in the Kingdom Hearts games use katakana, and if you use a quick reference, you should be able to read what the items are and know what you're using.

I have a modded psp. :icame: But when it comes out in America I am going to buy it because I love the KH franchise. If I have it on mem stick it'll take up too much data because of data installation an everything! But thanks, I'll probably check some of that over. I'm sure somebody out there's going to come up with an english patch for it anyways, but I've always been interested in learning japanese language anyways. :D

It's definitely a good skill to have. And it's not so much learning the language as much as just learning to pronounce the characters and read.

I don't know many Japanese words at all, but knowing katakana, I can go down that list and read the skills and items. Or at least guess.

PSPs go for 70~100 dollars maybe 120. Plus the game would come out to 150~180 depending on how much you paid for the PSP. You'll probably end up playing a friend's and want to buy one. xD

And what do you guys mean by 'modded' PSP? People from KHInsider said that PSP's aren't region-locked, so I won't have to alter my PSP in order to play imported BbS.

'modded' as in, we changed the settings on our psps to allow us to play any game we want.
