This contest will be held weekly, where anyone willing to make signatures may participate and compete against other members, testing their skills and technique. Each week is given a new theme or subject that makers must utilize in their work. Makers have one week to prepare a sig, where by the end of the week they must enter a sig in the entry thread.. At the deadline, members may begin voting in the voting thread, and the next theme will be announced shortly for the contest to continue its weekly schedule. Winners will be announced in the results/discussion topic, where members can discuss the results, suggest new themes, or critique past themes.
Info
The S.O.T.W. is a mass signature battle that occurs weekly. Each week the Graphics Director will Post an Entry Thread. In the first post of the Entry Thread the Director will disclose all information for that week's battle. The information that the Director will provide, will be a Theme and any additional restrictions on the sigs, like special rules just for that week.
Remember every week that these rule apply to every sotw battle, unless stated other wise:
1)Entry must be at most 500x300 pixels and its file size must be 300kb or under.
2)You are not allowed to submit the same sig again in multiple competitions.
3)No ripping. You must submit works that are entirely your own; so have integrity!
Found rippers will be suspended from SOTW.
4)You must make a new work for each SOTW, old works are not applicable.
5)You are not allowed to vote for your own sig, even if you feel yours is the best!
6)You can even change your entry, as long as the deadline isn't over.
7)Since we are giving a prize a single person can only win 3 times in a row. After their third win, you will need to sit out a week before entering again.
Overall Rules
- Anyone may enter the contest. (Preferably if you use good photo-editing software like Photoshop, Paint Shop Pro, GIMP, etc. People who only use the default Windows Paint program will not be eligible, because Paint is not sufficient for creating graphics in a competition.)
-Each week's theme will be decided by me after deliberation and feedback from members' comments in the discussion thread. Every theme will have a varying set amount of rules that makers must abide to, otherwise their entries will be disqualified for that week. Please regard the rules for each week's theme as posted in the entry thread for that specific week. They will most likely change each time.
-Makers are given one week after the theme is announced to make their sig. You must submit your entry in the entry thread every week unless said otherwise.
-Basic sig limitations apply: no greater than 500x300 pixels, and preferably no greater than 300kb in file size. These values may change in certain weeks, so remember to look at the rules for each week!
-Makers should save a copy of their psd (or whatever file your software uses) in case its authenticity/validity needs to be checked.
-Voting takes place in a separate polled topic.
-When voting, NO FAVORITISM! If you recognize a particular style of a certain member's entry and vote for them because they're your friend, your vote will be void and disregarded. Please be fair and respect the work of others.
-If you vote, you may leave a comment in the voting thread. Comments usually include WHY you voted for a particular sig based on its strengths above the other sigs. You are mainly voting for who can compose a sig based on skill and overall aesthetics, so the stock choice is irrelevant. For the entries you don't vote for, you may state what you don't like about them and provide constructive criticism for improvement. No useless and hurtful "That sucks!" comments will be allowed.
-Voting will continue on into the next week, where the next theme will be in effect for members to simultaneously vote for the past theme and work on the next theme during that week. Winners will be announced in the results thread according to who gets the most votes during the week.
-Winners receive a munny prize of 150 points and bragging rights as a valuable sig making experience from the various SOTW challenges.
Schedule
Every Sunday, the old poll will be closed (as a read-only thread), and a new entry thread and poll with the most recent entries will be opened.
At the end of each S.O.T.W the winner's user name along with the S.O.T.W number and theme will be listed in the results/discussion topic. Their name will also link to their winning entry.
Have fun creating and voting! Hope to see some of your entries soon!
